Lessons Learned

I have had hundreds of different advertisers on my various web pages, and I've learned a lot from dealing with them. Many are honest and a delight to deal with. Most are not that good. I've decided to tell you about some of the good ones. There's never any charge to sign up with any of these.

Beginning in February, 2000: I'm trying out Comission Junction. I signed up with them a long time ago, but I haven't tried them until now. I don't remember why I didn't use them then, but I'm sure they have improved a lot since they began.

You select the merchants whose ads you want to host, and when they approve you Commission Junction collects from the merchants and pays you one monthly check.

April update: I'm happy with them so far. They have good sponsors, and the sponsors don't seem to suddenly vanish the way they so often do in some similar programs. Also, there's a good selection of sponsors, so there's usually something suitable for any site.

October 2000 update: I'm still very happy with them.

January 2001 update: Still happy with them. I get a check every month like clockwork.

December 2001 update: I like these guys more all the time. They are improving their reporting (which was already quite good) and they continue to pay promptly.

I have been with Websponsors for many years. At first I wasn't too excited about them, but they have a lot of advertisers, and some of them were good fits with some of my websites. So I have a long time of experience with them. As my other sponsors have come and gone, these people have always been there, and they have paid me, as promised, all this time. They don't have immediate reporting, and they wait a bit longer to pay, but maybe that's what it takes to make it in the business. As time goes on, they are earning a larger percentage of the ad spots on my sites. I recommend them.

December 2001 update: I have gradually been giving these guys more space on my sites as they have stayed pretty much the same and most of my other customers have deteriorated. They just started paying sooner, which I see as an excellent sign.
